My Order: Veggie Burger & SecretBurger Combination

I was invited by Hidden Burger's chef, Morgan, to review this burger joint near Union station. Tucked away in the steakhouse, The Bottom Line, Hidden Burger is not the easiest restaurant to find. Walls adorned with photos of Archie and friends, this is the place to go if you want a good ol' fashion burger. With only a limited number of items on the menu, Hidden Burger strives to do well by serving with only the freshest Canadian ingredients. They are hoping to add shakes and ice cream to the menu soon.

One of their popular feature is the SecretBurger. Every week, there is a new "secret burger" that you can order. To find out what the Secretburger is for the week, you can go onto their social media. I was able to try a combination of their Veggie Burger and SecretBurger in one. Their veggie patty was definitely delicious and I liked having it topped with that week's SecretBurger ingredients, which were: jalapenos, avocado, aioli, and cheddar. Not to mention the chef made a jalapeno aioli sauce to top it all off! The patty did fall apart quickly because it was a veggie patty instead of beef. I liked how the burger was crispy with the right amount of spicy though.

Hidden Burger also has a $10 combo deal (fries and drink included) for their Veggie or Cheeseburger. Due to the limited seating space, it wouldn't be a place for you to bring your friends to catch up at. I would recommend Hidden Burger if you work or live in the area and is craving a traditional burger for lunch or after work.

My Order: Socal, $11.85

A group of friends wanted to meet up for a movie and dinner. Originally, the restaurant suggested was on Danforth whilst the movie screening was going to happen downtown. It would be a hassle to go from point A to B. I suggested Bareburger because it was a newly opened restaurant that I saw on BlogTO and it was much closer to the theater.

Bareburger is a pleasant restaurant with a modern take on the cabin theme. They emphasize on "all Bareburger meats are free-range, pasture raised, humanely raised, antibiotic, gluten-free, and hormone-free". This is great if these points are important to you when buying meat.

I scanned through the menu to realize that none of the burgers came with fries or some sort of side. I was not happy that I had to pay $11.85 for a burger that wasn't big and had no sides. Had I done my research beforehand, I wouldn't have chose to come here. That's just the penny-pincher inside of me huffing and puffing. The burger was decent, but it didn't stand out tremendously either. I understood where the price point was coming from, but still, no fries with that??

If you don't mind paying premium for organic burgers with no sides, then try out Bareburger.

Fresh Burger is a burger joint that originated in Richmond Hill. They recently opened their Toronto location on Black Friday and gave away free burgers as part of their grand opening.

I had the opportunity to preview the new restaurant before it was opened to a line of hungry people. Fresh Burger puts emphases on their quality premium meats. You can order your burger based on how much meat you want along with additional toppings. If you want poutine instead of fries, you can upgrade it for $2.99 in a combo.

The menu is kept to a minimum because their sole focus is the Canada AAA sirloin served. As someone who likes to order interesting items off the menu, their menu did not stand out to me because of the limited choices. I tried their Freshburger and it tasted like any standard burger. It's typical comfort food but made fresh on the grill every time, which I like. Fresh Burger is for people who love the classic burger and want to eat it fresh. No frills, no fuss.

My Order: Single Red Sea, $7.99

Despite being a Torontonian girl at heart, I live outside of the city (Woodbridge to be exact). Now, if you are familiar with Woodbridge, you'd know that this suburban area has only begun flourishing within the past few years. Better restaurants have started to trickle up north recently, one of which is The Burger's Priest. I decided to catch up with an old elementary school friend at the Woodbridge location because I always wanted to try it out. 

We arrived around lunch time and it was pretty busy. I got the Red Sea burger with a single patty. I didn't like paying so much for a burger since I was used to McDonalds' value menu (yes, I'm that girl). I was pretty neutral about the burger and would like something new next time. 

I think The Burger's Priest is a great alternative to the fancier restaurants in Woodbridge. It's much more casual and cheaper compared to restaurants like Moxie's.
