My Order: The Chocolate Medley, $7.95

Juliette & Chocolat was one of the restaurants I wanted to visit for a long time. On my fourth Montreal trip, I finally got the chance to go to one of their many locations. I had super high expectations for Juliette & Chocolat because I only heard good things about it. However, I ended up ordering something that greatly disappointed me. I expected to get a giant brownie with lots of ice cream for The Chocolate Medley. I expected a bigger platter, something similar to Demetres. It was good, though not what I expected for the price.

The space overall is very spacious and can hold many customers. It's a good place for a get-together or a first date. I heard their other menu items are pretty tasty though. If I come back, I know I will definitely order something else.

My Order: Zhenghe Hong Gong Fu, $6

When I went to Montreal, I got the chance to visit a lovely tea shop called Camellia Sinesis (named after a plant that is used to produce tea). This particular tea shop does not allow you to use your cellphone or laptop. I've been to other cafes where the owners prefer electronics not to be used, but this tea cafe enforces the rule. They want you to enjoy your tea in a zen atmosphere and if you are with other people, you have to keep your voice at a low level. If it gets too loud, you will hear a gong go off to remind you to keep your voice down.

There were many tea options, all ranged from $5-$10 a pot if I remembered correctly. A friend and I shared the Zhenghe Hong Gong Fu ($6), which is a type of black tea. I wasn't crazy about the drink at first. My friend who I shared it with thought it was really light. However, I felt that the taste changed the second time around and it tasted better. My cousin and her boyfriend got the Rou Gui ($6), a Wuloong tea. I liked the scent of their tea and it had a softer taste.

After you pay for your drinks, you can receive 10% off a bag of the tea that you just drank in the cafe. The coupon is on the receipt which you can use then or later. I thought this was a great idea to get people purchasing! There are a total of three locations in Quebec. Overall, it is a cool place to be if you would like some peace and quiet to yourself or have a place to get your creative juices flowing with a pen and paper. I definitely recommend stopping by as a tourist if you get the chance.

If you know me, you would know that I love Montreal. If I knew French, I would move there instantly (and I have tried searching for job opportunities!). I went back last month to visit my cousin with a friend. This time, I was prepared to review some of the places I went to (more Montreal restaurant reviews to come, yay!).

My cousin and her boyfriend took the friend and I to this tiny diner on Saint Laurent for lunch. The phrase "Patati Patata" is similar to "Hakuna Matata" from what I was told. The diner is this really cute and small place with an outgoing staff. They sell basic fast food items at super cheap prices! I opted for one hamburger and some fries with sauce. The burger was slider-size, which was why it was only $2.50. One of the employees told me that people usually order two to have their fill. If you decide to order a burger, you get a slip of paper to check off the toppings and sauces that you want on it. I liked their fries because they were done fresh. My friend, who got the fries without the sauce, told me the sauce made them taste saltier (I personally couldn't tell).

Patati Patata is a very casual place and great for a quick meal for any time of the day. You wouldn't go out of your way to visit it but if you want something fast and cheap, this is the place to be! Definitely drop by if you are ever on Saint Laurent and looking for some light to eat.

I went to this Montreal cafe in May of 2012. Unfortunately as you can see, this is another incomplete review. Either way, the Mokafrappa was delicious so definitely try it out if you get the chance. I probably won't be returning to this cafe any time soon.

Although yes, this is the Toronto Cafe Blog, I think it's nice to have a little variety here and there. As well, this is a filler review since I don't have as much content to post compared to my upcoming reviews.

My boyfriend and I visited my cousin in Montreal three weeks ago. We got to try a popular chocolate dessert cafe/restaurant called Cacao 70. They offered a limited selection of coffee drinks but I wasn't there for the coffee. Since it was brunch time, I was desperate to have some content into my stomach. I didn't want to order dessert because I had nothing in the morning and didn't want to be filled up on sugar. So I ordered one of their savoury crepes, The House Special (I think, I'm basing it off their online menu since I forgot to record it). It came with fruit appetizers that you could dip in chocolate before the main entree came. I definitely enjoyed the food! It was not crazily mind-blowing and unique, but it definitely gave me a fill and I was definitely content.

I really liked the atmosphere and their chocolate-themed restaurant. You could also buy chocolate to take back with you if you wish. I didn't buy any only because they were a bit pricey for a bag.

If I was to come back to Montreal (which I obviously am), I would definitely try their dessert crepes. Even if you hate chocolate (like my boyfriend), there is definitely something there for everyone.
